CATHEDRAL
In front of the cathedral there was a sad scene in which we learned that Branko’s mother died. The director of the series recorded wonderful shots of the narrow streets with a view of the belfry, and he also noticed the house of the local goldsmith Živković with interesting renaissance shell-shaped stone façade. The single-nave Romanesque cathedral was built in the mid-12th century; two side aisles were added in the mid-18th century. Today’s appearance was given to the cathedral in 1949 and 1950 during restoration. Below the main altar there are tombs of the Town of Senj bishops of Pohmajević, Ožegović and Maurović, and below the right subterranean basin there are graves of Town of Senj citizens from the end of the 18th to the middle of the 19th century.
On Cimiter square is the entrance to an extensive collection of religious items; we also recommend that on your way towards M. Ožegović Square you take the narrow street along the interesting gothic-renaissance Vukasović Palace, which today hosts the Town Museum.
